Weekender Bags for Women – the Perfect Weekender

Almost next to nothing is more important than the bag you take with you on your travels (other than your actual tickets!). The bag you take with you carries all the weekender-bags-for-womenitems that you have deemed essential to travel with ease and comfort. Whether you are a “check-in all the 50 lbs luggage you can” kind of gal or a “carry-on only” lady finding the right bag is so important! I know that I personally have been on both ends of the spectrum during my travels thus far. This is why I want to tell you a bit about weekender bags for women.

Travel Mishaps Past

My last big trip with a HUGE luggage was a nightmare. First off… I seriously over packed. The night before I was weighing the heck out of my bag to try to take out one or two items that maybe weren’t as “essential” as I initially thought. At some point between O’hare airport in Chicago and Heathrow Airport in London one of the four wheels on my luggage popped off… never to be seen again! So, I had fun spending the next THREE weeks with my THREE wheeled luggage. By the end of the trip (before we had actually made it home, mind you) the poor zipper gave out. UGH! My fault for over packing really, but come on!

As a result of last summer’s packing travel mishaps, I’ve decided to take a new approach this year! Carry-ons ONLY! Just the thought of it sparks up my anxiety a bit… “What if I’m not going to be able to fit EVERYTHING I want to bring?” That’s the beauty of it all I guess… packing efficiently is an art and I hope I’m on my way to mastering it!

Finding the Perfect Weekender

On that note, that brings me to my topic today “Weekender Bags”. They are these nifty bags that are supposed to be big enough to hold everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. My trip is going to be a bit longer than a weekend (a.k.a. a month), but I’ve been on the lookout for a fun bag to supplement my small carry-on roller bag. After searching a variety of companies and weekender bags for women styles, I finally settled on The Weekender in Beige from Beis Travel! It checks a lot of the boxes I was looking for in a bag and I’ll talk more about those below.

Simple & Chic.

Honestly, I am in love with how simple yet, chic the look of this bag is.

weekender-bags-for-womenBeing as this bag only comes in beige or black, I was a bit tentative. I am a girl who loves me some color and I am also OBSESSED with pink. However, there was something about this bag that just seemed amazingly beautiful to me.

Ridiculously Spacious.

This bag feels huge to me! I was a bit worried that having that extra lower compartment (see next point) was going to take away from the overall space, but weekender-bags-for-womenthis is not the case at all. In addition to the lower compartment, the main compartment hosts a designated laptop pocket and three additional smaller pockets (1 with zipper, 2 without). Enough space and more for all your traveling essentials!

However, I was hoping that I would be able to fit this bag underneath a plane seat and I’m having a sinking feeling that it might be a bit on the big side for that? I’ll keep you updated on that development. Either way, I know that I’m going to get maximum use out of this bag on all sorts of trips be it plane, train, or automobile. 😉

Nifty Lower Compartment.

I don’t know why, but when I first discovered that bags could have a separate lower compartment for items such as shoes… this was a REVELATION to me. Iweekender-bag-shoe-compartment absolutely had to have a bag with this nifty compartment. This weekender bag has just that! It can fit approximately 3-4 pairs of shoes depending on what kinds you are packing. In the picture I was able to fit one pair of boots, one pair of flat sneakers, and one pair of sandals! It is also a great place to keep dirty or wet clothes separate from the rest of your bag if you’re not using the whole compartment for shoes.

Matching Accessories.

One of the perks of having a product with simple classic colors is that you typically can stack on some matching accessories. Who doesn’t love a beautiful bag with a carry-on cosmetics case to match? I am always looking for a more aesthetically pleasing way to carry my toiletry items when traveling with a carry-on only (as opposed to the 1-quart sandwich baggie). This cosmetic case boasts to be “TSA-friendly” as it is clear on both sides. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is my solution to no more cheap plastic baggies!tsa-friendly-cosmetic-bag

Have I Found the Perfect Weekender?

Pros: chic, clean, spacious, matching accessories

Cons: (dare I say) slightly too big?

Let’s be real, the size is only really a “con” if I can’t fit it under the airplane seat… but in reality this bag is truly is everything that I was looking for in a weekender. Click here to read more about weekender bags for women from Beis Travel!

What do you guys think? Does this weekender bag seem like something right up your alley? 🙂

Hello, I’m sorry but I have to mention how gorgeous that cat is! The bag does seem very chic and I usually don’t do big bags but this one looks really nice. I didn’t even know there was a name for them but overall, this is good information. The compartment for the shoes are a hugeeee plus! Specially when you travel someplace involving a lot of sand or just dirt! Thanks for the info.

Thanks for your comment, Sandy. Yeah, I kind of had to sneak my cat in for a photo opp. Haha. 🙂 I don’t usually do huge bags either, but I am hoping to limit my traveling to a couple carry on bags this year so I’m hoping I still am able to carry everything I need without sacrificing anything. Hehe. Thanks for visiting!

I love that you have a cat tax! It’s really the best part of the internet. This bag looks AMAZING! As a traveler who likes to keep things simple, that zippy compartment is le fab. I’m also hoping that the little toiletry bag really is TSA friendly – plastic bags are not great for anyone, and I’d rather not keep my stuff in them! Does it come with the bag, or is that your nifty addition?
I think this would be perfect for a conference or quick trip out of town! Love it!

I know right! I love discovering the cats of the internet. 🙂 Haha. The cosmetic bag is extra, but if it passes TSA I definitely think that it’s worth it. I totally think this bag would be a great a go-to for short trips and conferences. Thanks for visiting!

Lol I have to agree with Sandy there about the cat. very pretty! But, the bag is grate too! That has lots of space! I’m always running around somewhere. Would come in handy. I never seen one with the shoe compartment like that. very nice! Thanks for the sharing that info.

Carry-on bags is 100% the only way to travel! I gave up on checking luggage nearly 10 years ago, and it has really simplified the traveling experience for me. This bag is pretty similar to one I have by Lo&Sons, so I can see why it’s great for travel. Thanks for the tip!

I’m pretty sure I’m going to be a carry-on only convert after this trip… my husband has been trying to convince me for years! Also, the weekender bag from Lo&Sons is where I first discovered that nifty lower compartment. I was lusting over their weekender bag for months, but they were out of stock in the color I wanted so I looked into a couple other companies and settled on this one. I think I’m still going to keep Lo&Sons in mind for future purchases. 🙂 Thanks for visiting!

That bag looks very practical and stylish, and if I was looking for a weekender bag, I would probably go for something like that. For comfort reasons I usually travel with a backpack, though. That is because a backpack is so easy to carry on your bag without dragging it in one hand. It leaves your hands free. That´s also the reason I´m not a fan of wheeled luggage. They are only a good option, if you´re staying in just one city, in my opinion. If you travel around, I think a backpack is the most comfortable solution.

I agree, a backpack is a very practical option! When my husband and I are going around and about during the day on our trip we usually carry a backpack when we don’t need to bring too much along with us. Thanks for visiting! 🙂
